Amen. Let's Eat!
Wednesday, September 27, 2006 Cinnamon Buns From Heaven

I made these a while back and they were pretty much amazing. Here's the recipe:

2 packages active dry yeast
2 1/2 cups warm water

1 vanilla cake mix
6 cups flour
3 eggs
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 1/2 tsp salt

Filling:
1 1/2 cups butter, softened
3 cups brown sugar
3 tbs cinnamon

Dissolve yeast in warm water and let sit for 3 minutes. Add cake mix, one cup of flour, eggs, oil and salt. Stir well. Add remaining 5 cups of flour. Dough will be quite sticky. On a well-floured surface knead the dough for 5 minutes. Place in a greased bowl and turn to coat. Allow to rise for 45 minutes or until the dough has doubled in bulk. (While the dough is rising, make the filling my mixing the butter, sugar and cinnamon together.)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Take dough and punch it down, then divide into two equal parts. Roll one half into a large rectangle on a lightly floured surface. Spread half of the the cinnamon mixture on the rectangle then roll it up like a jelly roll. Cut into 2" pieces and place in a greased baking pan. Repeat these steps with remaining dough and filling. Allow to rise until doubled in size, then bake for 25-35 minutes.

YUMMY!
